UI/UX Designer, Frontend Implementation

Full-time20k-35kBeijing · Haidian · Tsinghua Tongfang Technology TowerProduct and DesignReports to: Co-founder / Product Lead

About

Dimension Gate is an AI Agent product startup before Series A. Founded by Tsinghua alumni, we have raised more than RMB 20 million in angel funding and are backed by Tsinghua-affiliated incubators including Qingzhi Park and Tongfang.

We believe product competition in the AI era ultimately comes down to experience. With the same model capability, the team that makes interaction smoother, visuals more compelling, and details more polished wins.

Our core products are MinuteX, Readoow, and EduMindX: from AI meeting notes and personal knowledge profiles, to real-time personalized English learning, to AI classroom and learning analytics platforms for education institutions.

The company is in a critical 0-to-1 stage. Products are planned for official launch in Q4, the financing path is clear, and the next round has started.

Role Overview

We need a hybrid talent whose core strength is design and who can also implement the frontend hands-on.

You are not a designer who only hands off Figma files: you research design directions, produce high-fidelity concepts, iterate with the team, and then write the UI into the product. You are not a frontend engineer who only writes code either: you care deeply about taste, interaction detail, and brand consistency, and are willing to tune a button animation ten times.

This role reports directly to the co-founder. Every design decision you make will shape the final quality of the product and the user’s first impression.

Responsibilities

  • Define and continuously evolve the overall visual style for products including MinuteX and Readoow, covering layouts, color systems, typography, iconography, and motion design.
  • Own the full design process from user research, information architecture, and interaction flows to high-fidelity visuals, while maintaining experience consistency across Web, iOS, Android, and desktop.
  • Build and maintain the design system and component library, and handle frequent product UI needs such as modals, push onboarding pages, empty states, share cards, and campaign pages.
  • Turn design proposals directly into frontend code, work with backend engineers on APIs, and ensure visual fidelity and smooth interactions.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of product skins and theme systems, supporting switchable visual systems.
  • Create brand visuals for the official website, landing pages, social media assets, event materials, and other external touchpoints, keeping the company’s visual identity consistent.
  • Continuously improve interaction flows and visual details based on user feedback and data, while tracking competitor design trends and introducing new ideas and tools.

Requirements

  • Degree background in art or design, bachelor’s degree or above, and 2+ years of UI/UX design experience. Internet or AI product experience is preferred.
  • Strong visual design ability, with sharp judgment in color, layout, typography, spacing, icons, and motion. Able to independently deliver high-quality visual designs.
  • Frontend implementation ability, fluency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and working knowledge of at least one mainstream framework such as React or Vue. Able to independently build interactive pages from design.
  • Fluent with Figma or similar design tools, and able to build componentized design systems.
  • Strong product sense: not just making screens beautiful, but understanding product goals and user scenarios, then proposing improvements from a design perspective.
  • A portfolio is required. It is the core basis for evaluating your ability; applications without a portfolio will not be considered.

Nice to Have

  • Full-stack ability, including simple backend APIs or Node.js services.
  • Experience designing AI products and familiarity with interaction patterns for AI-generated content.
  • Motion design experience and familiarity with tools such as Lottie, Rive, and Framer Motion.
  • Experience designing gamified products, including achievement systems, progression systems, and avatars.
  • A personal design blog, Dribbble, Behance, open-source projects, or a technical blog.
  • Ability to use AI design and development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, v0, and Figma AI to improve efficiency.

Portfolio Requirements

  • At least 2 complete product design projects, showing the full process from requirement analysis and interaction design to visual execution, not only final screenshots.
  • Work that demonstrates frontend implementation ability, such as an interactive prototype you built, a personal website, an open-source frontend, or anything proving that you can code as well as design.
  • Show visual details: color pairing, type hierarchy, spacing systems, icon style, and motion treatment. These details matter more to us than broad project descriptions.
  • Brand design, illustration, 3D, or other art-related work is also welcome and helps us better understand your taste and visual foundation.
  • Any portfolio format is acceptable: personal website, Notion, PDF, or Figma link. Please make sure we can access it directly without requesting permissions.

What We Offer

  • High-leverage growth: report directly to the co-founder and lead the product visual system in the 0-to-1 stage. Your design decisions will directly affect product success.
  • An environment that values both design and engineering: the team includes Tsinghua graduates, a former Zhipu platform lead, and a former TikTok multimodal large-model research scientist, with shared standards for quality.
  • Top-tier AI tools: free Claude Code and Codex accounts, unrestricted compute, and encouragement to use AI tools to improve design and development efficiency.
  • Competitive compensation: 20k-35k monthly salary plus equity options. An ESOP pool is in place, and exceptional candidates can discuss a higher package.
  • Comfortable office environment: located in Tsinghua Tongfang Technology Park, with free desserts, unlimited cold drinks, specialty coffee, free monthly gym access downstairs, a Korean food street across the road, and a 5-minute walk to the subway.
  • Flexible work: no clock-in, flexible hours, and outcome-oriented management.
  • Financing upside: the company plans to start Series A financing by year-end, with a clear path for early core members’ equity upside.

Interview Process

  • Resume and portfolio screening: the portfolio is central, and applications without one will not proceed.
  • First interview: discuss design philosophy, project experience, and product understanding with the co-founder.
  • Timed design assignment: complete a specific design task within 48 hours to show real design ability and execution speed.
  • Assignment payment: RMB 500 upon completion. If hired, it will also count as two formal workdays of salary.
  • Portfolio review and offer: the team reviews the assignment together, may add one live discussion, and issues an offer after approval.
